Whitewall joins Oxford

The move to textile design was a natural progression. I hope to expand this to local designers and shops in the area, so forward this link along if you get a chance. Our first retail exposure has had a good response. You can see these pillows in Mountainbrook Village in the Tracery space where Paige Albright Orientals are located. Drop in and check them out sometime.

Old Building Facades

This is a local BBQ restaurant here in Birmingham (5 Points South) there’s nothing like the shadowy silhouette of cool architecture on a cold night.

Hibbett Sports

Finally installed the art wall in the Brookwood and Tuscaloosa Hibbett Sports! Now let’s hope they fly off the shelves!!!!

Kaizen

I was working on our newest project with ActionSportsArt and it reminded me of the term Jeff Dungan, a friend of mine told me about once, kai zen and its philosophy of continual improvement.  It is neat to have a good idea, it is exciting to see it become something meaningful – but without this idea of kai zen it will never reach its fullest potential and power. I thought that whole philosophy summed up our process of making our art the best it can be.

Whitewall Pillows?

Remember that little company I started with a hand full of pattern designs called Whitewall & Co.? What if I expanded our reach into pillows and window treatments? Let me know what you think….

Pure Design

I saw these motorcycles on tv this weekend and I was surprised to find out they were designed and hand assembled right here in Birmingham, AL. Thank-you to www.confederate.com for giving us such a pure design-centric sculpture. They are all beautiful enough to hang on the wall.

Social Media Quick Read

I'm already halfway through this book and it's a quick & encouraging
read about the use of social media. The subject is all about creating
and or building your own personal brand. Check it out - "Crush It" by

Fun Time

I got this cool clock from At Home in Homewood this weekend. I thought
it was the perfect look/design for our new gas cook top.

Coffee Bag Design

Got a call from our good friends at Joe Muggs the other day and we warmed up a few ideas we put on hold a year or so ago. The attached designs are a few of those ideas and now we just might make this thing happen. So as you stroll through your local Books-A-Million, take a look over at the Joe Muggs coffee stand – we just might have a few designs on the shelf. Now, go get your coffee and make something happen today.

This piece was designed for the new Auburn Arena tailgate suites, it's
about 7 feet long - I really do like the scale of it. War Eagle!

Branding Book to Own

I'm always looking for new books to add to my small library of design
inspiration. I came across this little jewel while browsing the design
books at Barnes & Noble this weekend. It does a really good job
capturing many old forgotten and not so old trademarks over the years.
It's a true collection to have at your finger tips. I'd recommend it
for sure, "American Trademarks - A Compendium" by Chronicle Books.

Custom Art for Planet

I just saw this piece installed at Planet Cellular, it's a extra deep
canvas wrap used to also be their store location map. It turned out to
be very old looking just like we wanted!

Planet Cellular Canvas Map

We were asked to create a store location map for the corporate offices
of Planet Cellular. The task was to make this appear as a piece of
art, so we designed this as an oversized stretched canvas around a 55"
square. It turned out so well, I had someone ask about haing one for
their home.

Everyone knows you can buy just about whatever size flat screen tv you want these days…did you know you can buy a 46” gas fireplace and hang it on the wall???? Sounds cheesy but the lines are pretty clean!!!

Architectural Brackets and Gate

It’s funny in a design environment how you take things for granted sometimes. I walk by these brackets and gate everyday enjoying their beauty and wondering how in the world a human crafted them by hand. It’s like I’ve said before, design is everywhere. For more cool pieces like this go to www.traceryinteriors.com

The Village Branding Begins...

Here’s the first design direction for The Village at Hendrix ( www.thevillageathendrix.com ). This branding campaign has started in full go mode and looks to be a fun project. Ward Davis and Beth Tyler have been great to work with so far and Conway Arkansas is about to expand its offerings through what this development will bring to the area. This TND designed by DPZ, has all the appeal and potential in the world. I’m excited to continue as we are currently creating a Farmers Market event that will happen in the next month.

If you’re interested in branding services please go to www.thegbrand.com and contact me. I’d love to talk to you about your next design idea.

T-Shirts Designer Black Ace Clothing

This website (http://www.blackaceclothing.com) has some really cool designs. T-shirts are a basic piece of everyone’s clothing needs at one time or another. This company has some really thoughtful pieces of art. I had a full collection on Zazzle that was mistakenly erased through a misunderstanding but I’ve slowly gotten back into playing with some designs. If you’re interested you can see them at http://www.zazzle.com/chadbmartin

New Branding Client

Got a nice tour of this college yesterday as it is the main amenity
fort next big branding project. Hendrix College is nestled in the
northern region of Little Rock Arkansas. I had a great time taking it
all in and getting a brief history lesson on the area and the way it
became Conway. So the challenge begins as I head home, time to design.

Successful Cigar Brands

This is a cigar logo burned into a cigar box I have at my desk. I've
always thought this design is a perfect example of what I call a
heritage brand look. Nice clean simple lines balanced with the right
amount of field and texture - well done AVO!

certificate. Happy Memorial Day weekend.

New Topless Ferrari Prototype

Design is in everything, especially Ferrari. I came across this special Ferrari on a website in Italy last week. It goes by the name Conciso and originated as a styling exercise by the German studio michalakDESIGN. It got its inspiration from the 1950s Barchetta cars.

Signage and the Messages

I thought this was a pretty funny find. Thank-you to the contributors at ffffound.com for always having interesting content. See more at http://ffffound.com/image/6f925252b2e987b61afb2380190a5486c5a20191
