Whitewall joins Oxford

The move to textile design was a natural progression. I hope to expand this to local designers and shops in the area, so forward this link along if you get a chance. I was working on our newest project with ActionSportsArt and it reminded me of the term Jeff Dungan, a friend of mine told me about once, kai zen and its philosophy of continual improvement. It is neat to have a good idea, it is exciting to see it become something meaningful – but without this idea of kai zen it will never reach its fullest potential and power. I thought that whole philosophy summed up our process of making our art the best it can be.

I'm always looking for new books to add to my small library of design
inspiration. I came across this little jewel while browsing the design
books at Barnes & Noble this weekend. It does a really good job
capturing many old forgotten and not so old trademarks over the years.
It's a true collection to have at your finger tips. I'd recommend it
for sure, "American Trademarks - A Compendium" by Chronicle Books.

I just saw this piece installed at Planet Cellular, it's a extra deep
canvas wrap used to also be their store location map. It turned out to
be very old looking just like we wanted!

We were asked to create a store location map for the corporate offices
of Planet Cellular. The task was to make this appear as a piece of
art, so we designed this as an oversized stretched canvas around a 55"
square. It turned out so well, I had someone ask about haing one for

The Village Branding Begins...

Here’s the first design direction for The Village at Hendrix ( www.thevillageathendrix.com ). This branding campaign has started in full go mode and looks to be a fun project. Ward Davis and Beth Tyler have been great to work with so far and Conway Arkansas is about to expand its offerings through what this development will bring to the area. This TND designed by DPZ, has all the appeal and potential in the world. I’m excited to continue as we are currently creating a Farmers Market event that will happen in the next month.

Got a nice tour of this college yesterday as it is the main amenity
fort next big branding project. Hendrix College is nestled in the
northern region of Little Rock Arkansas. I had a great time taking it
all in and getting a brief history lesson on the area and the way it
became Conway. So the challenge begins as I head home, time to design.

always thought this design is a perfect example of what I call a

Design is in everything, especially Ferrari. I came across this special Ferrari on a website in Italy last week. It goes by the name Conciso and originated as a styling exercise by the German studio michalakDESIGN. It got its inspiration from the 1950s Barchetta cars.

Falcon Motorcycles

Triumph frame. I don't know much about the older bikes but this

So, I designed a tattoo the other day for a friend just like many others in the past and I thought I’ll never see that ink on skin. To my surprise I was sent the above image. Frank Adair, the single Southeast Region’s 2009 Employee of the Year got it done. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not packing my bags to head to Miami to tattoo the South Beach crowd but it is pretty cool to know someone committed to a lifetime of art I designed. Still warm from the presses… Above: Chase Morrow and Scott Travis’ IT Rockstars brochures are designed to mimic a cd jewel case. The design direction on this brand took an interesting turn when we married the idea of a techy IT person with a rockstar attitude (symbolizing their talent level). Yeah it’s a little tongue and check but it has played out very well. The business cards are designed to look like backstage passes and the slogans like “Caught Doing Lines of Code” speak for themselves. Does Design Influence You?

The influence of design is everywhere. Our society’s actions, behaviors and decisions are influenced daily by design and most are habits from our subconscious mind. There are forms, colors, shapes, fonts etc. that quietly stimulate our senses without most even knowing it. For example, good print design catches your eye, which compels you to further investigate the content, which hopefully leads you to something enlightening, product design influences your decision to purchase, environmental design can influence the mood of your surroundings, architecture can mean the difference between an average day and a truly memorable experience. Great design in any arena can stimulate the emotions as well as the rational mind. The design disciplines mentioned above all differ in how they are created and brought to fruition, but they all share a common purpose and that’s to improve a person’s quality of life.

The Famous Theater Building - Signage

Signage design is complete! The cast zinc signage above has an old theater profile to mimic the way things were as this historic building has seen many changes over the years. NHB Group helped bring this old building back to life through a complete renovation just a few years ago. The signage program consisted of a handful of suite signs on the first floor, a few regulatory signs for ada, apartment/condo signs upstairs and a directory. Can’t wait to see these finished!
